Catnip makes cats go crazy. Their pupils dilate, their heart rate spikes, and their little paws have never moved faster than when there's a bundle of catnip left out for them. But the kittynip isn't the only thing that makes cats become lunatics; sometimes it's the simplest of human foods like bell peppers, cream cheese, or finely smoked meats.
There's one thing every cat lover knows for certain, and that's that each cat they encounter is wildly different than the last, and just when you think you've cracked the code of the feline brain, some orange cat with one brain cell hops into your life and derails everything. Cats are not only unpredictable, but they're also intelligent little beasts. One minute, they're hiding under the sofa pretending not to notice your dinner, the next second, they're flying through the air to steal a bite.
When those little teefs sink into human food, there's no stopping the feral feline energy that overtakes them. Purrhaps you'll even wonder, did someone put catnip in this cheezburger?
20 Hissterical Memes of Cats Causing Constant Doorway Drama
Sep. 28th, 2025 03:00 pm![[syndicated profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/feed.png)
Every cat pawrent knows the struggle. The eternal debate of whether the door should be open or closed. To us, it's a simple choice. To cats, it's a full-scale philosophical crisis.
One minute, they're meowing desperately to get out, tails twitching like they have urgent business. The second you open the door, they just… stand there. Sniff. Maybe take one slow step. Then they look back at you, offended, as if you've somehow ruined the vibe. And of course, the moment you close the door again? Cue the cries of betrayal echoing through the house.
It's not about going in or out. It's about having options. Cats are master negotiators, and the door is their ultimate bargaining chip. Open? They'll stay inside. Closed? Suddenly, outside is the most interesting place in the universe.
At the end of the day, doors are just part of the cat game. They don't want in or out. They want the power to choose, every single time.

There is a lot more to pet ownership than feeding, cuddling, and loving your animal. You are also responsible for how they interact with the outside world. Dogs bark at neighbors, cats wander into gardens, and suddenly your floofy bestie is at the center of some awkward human drama. If you've ever owned an indoor cat who hears a siren song for the outdoor world, you know that it is a mix of both pride and panic. Pride, because they're clever little escape artists, and panic because you know that you can never quite control where they end up and thus keep them safe.
That's the situation this pet pawrent is in right now. When a panicked middle schooler showed up at their front door, towel in hand, struggling to wrangle the adventurous feline, it seemed like a misunderstanding. But when they checked the front door camera, it became clear that the little girl had been trying to catch the cat and carry it back to her house multiple times. Later, they find their cat stuck in a tree, likely after having to run away and escape from the little girl yet again. Now, this cat parent is poised to confront her mom and dad over the kid's behavior, and they have video evidence.

Mourning a soul cat is a complex and time-consuming process. You have been together for a decade or even more, living entwined lives that have become so close that you pretty much slept, ate and went to the bathroom together. You were there for each other through the low points, and you celebrated together during the high points. And when it came time to say goodbye, you thought your heart would never mend.
Now, the healthy thing to do is to take your time and grieve fully. Much like a relationship the right thing to do it not to rush back into another one. Which is what this story's protagonist found out the hard way when she went ahead and adopted a kitten merely a month after her soul cat's passing. And look, we get it, the loneliness is savage, and it can feel as though things will never get back to the way that they were. But in time they will. Trust the process.

The Cat Distribution System works in mysterious ways, and we can never get enough of watching it play out. It's almost uncanny how purrfectly it matches each feline soul to the right human - like a cosmic matchmaking service that knows when to send a needy kitty to a gentle heart, or when to test the patience of someone with just the right amount of persistence for a "spicy" new feline friend. We may joke about it online, but anyone who's lived it knows how real that invisible paw of destiny feels.
Take this latest story of a ghostly little cat who appeared out of nowhere, haunting one man's driveway with a heartbreaking expression and a stare that could pierce anyone's heart. Shy, hissing, and hardened by whatever past she carried, this cat still somehow knew where to go. Because really, how else do you explain her choosing this one doorstep, where she would find kindness, treats, a warm bed, and eventually even a lap to curl up in? It's as if the CDS whispered to her: "This is where you'll be safe. This is your new home - when you're ready".
We can't get enough of these stories that show how cats and humans always seem to find each other when they need it most. It's beautiful to see the online feline family gush and swoon over these little miracles - and to know that every "haunting" can turn into a homecoming.

One of your responsibilities, nay, your duties as a cat owner is to inform your brother, sister, partner, mom, or dad every time your cat does something cute. No action is too small to announce to the world that they must gaze upon your cat doing this awwdorable thing, or else it will be the end of the free world as we know it. Such actions include, but are not limited to: falling asleep in a purrfectly funny pawsition, doing a biiiiiiiiiig stretch, meowing cutely (or at all), playing with a random object, or simply just sitting with the light hitting them in the purrfect way.
It's a law that you must inform someone (or the internet) every time any of these things happen, and yes, it is a very hard job, but someone has to do it. Even if it means interrupting said purrson every 2-3 minutes. You're even allowed to wake them up while they're sleeping. They may get annoyed by it, like the husband in the post below, but honestly, we understand his wife and her awwdoration of their newly adopted kitten. One day, the kitten will be a senior cat, and he will wish he had paid more attention to it when it was a teeny, tiny thing.

This is your reminder to always read the instructions on the prescription labels, feline fam. We know it can be a little overwhelming with all of that medical mumbo-jumbo on there, but you never know how disastrous one little mistake can be when it comes to medications. Unfortunately, we learned this lesson from purrsonal experience. After one of our cats got spayed, they needed some pain medication, but they needed to take it with food. She wasn't hungry, and we could tell she was in pain, so we gave it to her anyway, thinking it would be harmless. Needless to say, we rushed to the vet hours later only to be told our cat was zooted on pain meds. The vet said everything was fine, but we did pay a couple hundred bucks to just to be told our cat was flying high in the sky.
The story below is much less silly and much worse than ours. But it has a happy ending, so don't shy away! This meowrvelously fluffy ginger cat was the recipient of a vet precription error, which caused some serious health problems. However, his pawrents never gave up on him. He, quite literally, survived the impawssible. Now he's back to being his goofy, floofy self, and we couldn't be happier. The vet, on the other hand, can't say the same thing.

34 Purrfectly Silly Memes Highlighting the Everyday Sass of Cats Being Cats
Sep. 28th, 2025 07:00 am![[syndicated profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/feed.png)
If you are someone who doesn't own cats, then you don't know the reality of living with them. You probably think that cats are boring animals that sleep all day and don't do anything exciting. But we, as cat owners, know just how wrong this is. Sure, cats sleep a lot, but when they are not sleeping, every meowment with them is an adventure. You never know what kind of chaos they might bring. There is just a level of sass to cats that cannot be explained in words. But silly cat memes? They capture the chaos.
There's a reason why everyone love funny cat memes. And we mean everyone, not just cat owners. Cat owners love hilarious cat memes like these because we can relate to them, because it helps us feel less alone. There are other people out there who are just as in love with their cats as we are, not despite the things cats do but because of them. And non-cat owners… well, it gives them a glimpse into the chaos, and the chaos is so ridiculous that they cannot help but laugh at it.

Sunday Sweets: Gothic Elegance
Sep. 28th, 2025 01:00 pm![[syndicated profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/feed.png)
Who says dark has to be dreary? These gorgeous Gothic cakes will have you cheering:

(By Sweet Lake Cakes)
Sweet Lake seems to specialize in Gothic designs, and I couldn't pick just one favorite!

(By Sweet Lake Cakes)
Look at that lace and "fabric" draping. INCREDIBLE.
One more:

(By Sweet Lake Cakes)
The bird skull cameo is the perfect touch.
And speaking of cameos, check out the raven head design on this little top hat:

(By Cake Central member ChrisJack1)
The feather, the hand painted skulls and swirls, the roses - just beautiful.

(By Candytuft Cakes)
It doesn't get much more classic than rich black and blood-red roses!
I really love the contrast of the white tiers under all this heavy scrollwork:

(Baker unknown. Anyone recognize it?)
WOW. The bottom tier looks like a wrought iron gate, and the second has architectural arch ways. The longer you look, the more detail you see!
On the other hand, sometimes simple can be just as dramatic:

Love.
Now welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion cake:

(By WDW's Contemporary Resort bakery, found here)
That wallpaper and perfect draping has this Dizgeek all atwitter, you guys. Great color on the roses, too!

(By Antonelli di Maria Torte & Design)
One of my personal favorites today; I can't believe that fabric draping, and the perfect color fade on the spider web!

(Baker unknown)
This purple practically glows, it's so vivid. If you look closely, you can see the layered acanthus leaves making up the second tier. Beautiful.

(By Cake Opera Company, featured here)
Another astounding, can't-believe-it's-cake design. That heavy embroidery is insanely intricate, and I've been so busy staring at the cake itself that I just now noticed the cake stand is wrapped in fur!
Ha!
And finally, arguably the simplest design of them all today, but I'm just so smitten with the unusual floral swag:

(By Artistic Bites)
This wedding cake was made for a "Red Riding Hood marries the Wolf" themed photo shoot. It's the perfect blend of dark elegance and fairy-tale whimsy, and I LOVE the succulents and fuzzy mosses they used on the cake.
Hope you enjoyed the Gothic Sweets, everyone! Happy Sunday!
24 Pawsome Pictures of Furry Felines Fired Up for Football Sunday
Sep. 28th, 2025 02:00 pm![[syndicated profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/feed.png)
Football season is here, and the cattos are ready to trade their scratching posts for goalposts. Picture a living room full of furry NFL fans, tails flicking like pompoms every time their team scores. With their laser-focus eyes, they'd make the purrfect referees, though their calls would likely involve penalizing hoomans for snack delays.
Of course, cats don't just watch the game; they're active pawticipants. The football itself? Clearly designed as the ultimate toy for batting across the floor. Touchdowns? More like tail-downs, as they proudly flop in front of the TV at the most dramatic moments. And when the crowd roars on screen, you can bet your kitty will meow right back, convinced they're part of the team.
Halftime shows? That's when the real entertainment begins. Zoomies down the hallway, surprise interceptions of chips, and dramatic leaps onto couches to block the view. Win or lose, your feline fan will celebrate with victory naps, demanding extra belly rubs for "team spirit."

50+ Comedic Cat Conundrums for When You Need a Long List of Feline Funnies
Sep. 28th, 2025 10:00 am![[syndicated profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/feed.png)
Hello, fellow feline fans, are you excited for autumn? The season of crunchy leaves, cozy blankets, and finally reclaiming our cats as personal space heaters. All summer long, our feline friends acted like we didn't exist, preferring sunny windowsills over snuggles. But now? The temperatures have dipped, the air is crisp, and suddenly we're back in business. Our cats are curling up next to us, purring away, pretending it was their idea all along. Classic feline behavior.
And with their dramatic return to blanket season, we're reminded once again of the many comedic cat conundrums that fill our lives. Should we move our legs under the blanket and risk disturbing His Royal Fluffiness? Why does the cat demand to go outside, only to turn around and immediately want back in? How can something so tiny take up so much space on the bed? These are mysteries science will never solve, but they make for hilarious living - and even funnier memes.
So, fellow feline fans, consider this your seasonal prescription: as many cat memes as possible, especially if they're full of silly antics, baffling behavior, and purrfect comedy to get you through the chillier days ahead. Whether your cat is snuggled on your lap right now or plotting another midnight zoomie session, one thing's certain: life with cats is always a conundrum, and always comedy gold.

All this time, as we have been covering these stories, we thought that abandoning your cat was one of the worst things that you could do. We believed that. The cats are bonded to you, they are dependent on you, if you have ever left a cat for a long time while you went on vacation, then you know just how much they miss you when you're gone. To abandon your cat is to abandon a family member just like any other, and we didn't think that it could get much worse than that.
But apparently, it can. This soon-to-be ex-husband abandoned not only his cat but also wife. That's bad enough, of course, except now, he has come back, demanding to break up the family's bonded pair cats who are littermates who grew up together - so that he could have one of them back. He never took care of them, abandoned them, and now, he has the gall to threaten to involve lawyers if his wife doesn't give one of them up.

After the Secret
Sep. 28th, 2025 12:03 am![[syndicated profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/feed.png)
Hi Frank,
In 2012 when I was 16 years old, I was date-raped by my then boyfriend at a party. A story not altogether dissimilar to the secret you posted this week from a person who was assaulted by a friend and was considering suicide. It took me 2 years to realize what had happened to me and what that meant, despite it being painful and causing bleeding for weeks. My brain had hidden the memory deep inside to protect me.
In my secret I wrote to you in 2015 I said that I was mad at myself for taking so long to figure it out and that I couldn’t forgive myself. I was considering suicide and felt too much shame to tell anyone about what had happened to me. I felt weak and that I had let myself down. But I was lucky enough to find a supportive community and was eventually able to talk to a therapist about my experience. It took time and a lot of work to overcome the crippling PTSD I didn’t realize I was struggling with. But I DID make it!

These days, I don’t think about it and if I do, it no longer has any power over me. I have forgiven myself and now I have a wonderful partner who respects me and never makes me feel unsafe. Moving on wasn’t easy but it is SO worth it. EMDR saved my life and allowed me to see that I was in fact strong and that life was worth living.
I guess I just wanted them to know that they are not alone. Unfortunately 1 in 5 women and 1 in 16 men in the US will experience sexual assault in their lifetimes. But, IT DOES GET BETTER! This is not your fault and that person was never really a friend at all. You deserve to be safe and loved. You are not tainted or ruined, you are so incredibly strong. I hope you are able to find the help you need and are able to give yourself grace. We are not victims, we are survivors.
Much love from one survivor to another,
J.
PS: If I submitted a secret today it would probably say something like, “I am not my past. I change everyday and I can’t wait to see who I become.”
